A session summary is not always the report on your desk
If reporting is where the writing time goes, a tool that produces a daily note addresses only part of the task. Evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries need a different account of the work.
Astralcyte includes an occupational therapy evaluation format, an interval progress report, and an episode discharge summary. The value of having those choices becomes clearer when you compare the text each document needs to emphasize.
One task across three reports
The following fictional excerpts illustrate the differences. In each case the therapist supplies the findings, interpretation, and plans in a dictated summary; these are not claimed software outputs.
| Document | Illustrative passage |
|---|---|
| Evaluation | The person needs help fastening a shirt and identifies independent dressing as a priority. During the assessment, the therapist observed difficulty with the buttons. An adapted fastening approach was discussed and agreed for trial. |
| Progress report | Compared with the initial assessment, the person now reports fastening the shirt using the adapted approach without help on most mornings. The therapist records progress toward the dressing goal and an agreed plan to continue the trial. |
| Discharge summary | At discharge, the person reports using the adapted fastening approach independently each morning. The therapist records the dressing goal as met and notes that continuing the approach and access to further review were discussed. |
The words are about the same activity, but each report answers a different question. The evaluation explains the starting difficulty. The progress report makes the comparison visible. The discharge summary brings the outcome and future arrangements together.
A recap can supply the report, not every visit
For a progress or discharge report, you can dictate your summary of the relevant history and current findings. Astralcyte drafts from that recording. It does not need a recording of every appointment to turn your own episode summary into report text.
You can edit the result and copy it into the patient record where the earlier visits are already documented. That makes the app useful for the reporting task itself.
Choose help that stays private
The recording, transcript, and drafts stay in encrypted storage on your device. They are not uploaded to Astralcyte, as its privacy policy explains.
You can get a starting draft for the document you need while keeping the person's assessment and treatment history out of an AI company's servers.
