Does every step that handles the conversation stay local?
An app can record on your laptop, transcribe locally, and still send the transcript to an online service to write the note. It can also offer local storage after the conversation has already been processed elsewhere. Neither arrangement answers a requirement that the scribe company never receive the session.
Ask about the recording, transcript, and draft separately. The answer you want is where each is processed and whether any clinical content is transmitted. A label such as desktop app, encrypted, or no training does not supply that complete answer.
Astralcyte performs transcription and drafting on the device. Its privacy policy states that session audio, transcripts, and notes are not sent to the company through the application.
Can the replacement give you the document you actually need?
Compare a familiar appointment in your usual format. A product that produces an appealing SOAP note has not yet shown whether it helps with your behavioral-health intake, ADIME note, or discharge report. The document type changes how much of the remaining writing a draft can do.
Look at the edits needed to finish that particular note. Repeated generic wording, misplaced details, or an unsuitable level of detail can cost time even when the sentences are fluent. A meaningful comparison uses similar input and includes the work through filing the note.
Astralcyte includes SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, narrative, and profession-specific formats for evaluations and reports. You can edit locally, refer back to the transcript, and generate another draft without overwriting an earlier edited note.
How does the finished note reach your chart?
If you already copy notes into your EHR, the final step may be familiar. If your current scribe files automatically, that convenience needs to be included in the comparison. Astralcyte uses an explicit copy-and-paste transfer into your existing patient record.
This allows the chart to stay where it is. You can replace the writing tool while the practice continues using its established record system. The chart receives the text you choose to file, while the scribe company receives none of the fuller conversation.
Make the purchase about the whole result
The question is whether you get a useful draft, in the right form, with a workable route into the patient record and no clinical upload to the scribe provider. Those are concrete properties you can compare without relying on a broad claim that one kind of AI is always better.
Astralcyte brings those properties together for clinicians who want local writing assistance: capture or dictate, draft in a selected format, edit, and copy into the chart. The conversation and working text stay encrypted on the device.
