The assessment is finished. The report still needs writing.
Your measurements and working notes may already capture the assessment. The report needs more than a list of results: it needs the account of the problem, your findings, what you concluded, and the plan you agreed. Putting that into readable paragraphs is another task.
If you dictate a finished report, ordinary speech-to-text may be enough. If you dictate findings as you recall them, there can still be repetition and loose fragments to organize. Astralcyte makes a transcript and then drafts a report in its physical therapy evaluation format.
From spoken fragments to report text
This fictional recap includes all the clinical findings and decisions. The paragraph afterward is an illustration of the writing step:
"The main difficulty is stairs at work. She stops on the landing because the right knee is uncomfortable. She wants to use the stairs without stopping. During today's step task she used the rail, and knee discomfort increased with repeated steps. My assessment is that the knee symptoms are limiting repeated stair use. We agreed to work on stair tolerance and review the response at the next visit. She uses a lift when one is available."
An illustrative report paragraph could read:
"The patient reports right knee discomfort that interrupts stair use at work. She stops on the landing and uses a lift when available; her goal is to use the stairs without stopping. During today's step task she used the rail and reported increased knee discomfort with repeated steps. The therapist's assessment is that knee symptoms limit repeated stair use. The agreed plan is to work on stair tolerance and review the response at the next visit."
The patient's goal and account of stair use have been brought together. The observed task, assessment, and plan follow in a readable order. The therapist supplied them all; the draft handled the sentences and arrangement.
Use a recap without recording the whole assessment
You can dictate after the appointment, drawing on the findings you have already collected. That lets you get writing assistance without changing the assessment itself. Edit the draft in Astralcyte and copy the text into your patient record.
The report is written from what you supply in that recording. For a recap, that means the assessment details you choose to include, rather than a new collection of measurements.
Keep the findings on your device
Speech-to-text and report drafting both happen on your device. The recording, transcript, and report stay in encrypted storage and are not uploaded to Astralcyte, as described in the privacy policy.
You can start from a rough spoken summary and finish a report, without giving the AI company the patient's assessment.
