A concise note is not a transcript of the argument

After a couples session, the record may need the issue, the positions explored, your intervention, and what was decided. The conversation itself can revisit the issue several times. Writing a concise account means selecting a thread without reproducing every turn.

This is a useful job for drafting assistance. The payoff is not simply fewer words. It is a shorter account that still explains why the next step was chosen.

One exchange and an illustrative note

In this fictional example, one partner wants to schedule a weekly discussion about household tasks. The other says scheduled discussions have previously felt like another obligation. The therapist asks each to describe what would make a conversation manageable. One suggests fifteen minutes; the other says they are not ready to agree to a weekly arrangement. Both agree to revisit the proposal next session.

An illustrative note could read:

"Discussed a proposed weekly conversation about household tasks. One partner favored a scheduled time; the other expressed concern that scheduling would add pressure and did not agree to a weekly arrangement. Therapist facilitated discussion of what each would find manageable. A brief conversation was proposed, with no between-session arrangement agreed. Both agreed to revisit the proposal at the next session."

The longer exchange has become a paragraph. The two positions remain distinct, repeated discussion has been combined, and the actual next step is easy to find. This is a fictional writing example, not an actual product result.

Choose between the exchange and your own summary

A session recording lets the app work from the fuller discussion. Your spoken recap starts with the account you have already chosen, which can be useful when the conversation was long but the note should be compact.

Astralcyte supports DAP, BIRP, narrative, and other formats. You edit the draft and copy it into your existing record. The privacy policy explains that the company never receives either partner's recorded conversation through the app. The working text stays in encrypted storage.
