The meeting, the scribe, and the chart are three different services
In a telehealth appointment, the meeting service carries the conversation. A scribe turns the conversation into a draft. The EHR holds the note you file. These jobs can happen in different places, even when they feel like one continuous appointment.
Using an online meeting service does not mean every later step has to be online too. You can keep the call where it is while making the transcript and draft on your own device. That avoids sending the conversation to an additional company simply to prepare the note.
It also lets you keep the patient-record system your practice already uses. Local drafting can sit between the call and the chart without replacing either.
A useful telehealth transcript needs both sides of the call
There are two audio sources on the clinician's device: the microphone carrying the clinician's voice and the meeting app playing the patient's voice. Recording only the microphone can miss the remote speaker, especially when a headset keeps that sound out of the room.
Astralcyte's desktop telehealth capture supports the microphone and operating-system application audio. This is worth checking with a short fictional call using your normal meeting app and headset. The useful result is a transcript containing both speakers, before you judge the draft made from it.
If a summary is incomplete because one voice was not captured, changing the note format will not supply the missing conversation. Identifying the audio source first is a more direct way to understand the problem.
Keep the draft separate from the meeting service's recording
Your meeting service may have its own recording, transcript, or retention options. Those are separate from the local recording used by Astralcyte. An offline scribe does not change the meeting provider's terms or remove a copy that provider creates.
What changes is the extra transfer to a scribe. Astralcyte makes the transcript and draft on your device, and its privacy policy explains that the app does not send those materials to the company. Temporary audio is removed after a complete transcript exists; the local transcript is kept by default unless you choose otherwise.
Keep the part of AI that helps after the call
Choose the note format you use, edit the resulting draft, and copy it into the existing chart. You can also dictate your own summary after the call when that is the input you prefer.
The convenience is still a first draft instead of another note to write from scratch. The privacy gain is that the full telehealth conversation does not reach a separate scribe company. Your meeting service carries the call; your chart receives the final record; the drafting work stays on your device.
